I haven’t written in awhile! I have been wayyy too busy! Parker is a great kid, and quite responsible for being 13… However last night he showed his true teenage colors I had planned to go out to dinner and a movie with some friends. Parker planned to be home to cook himself some dinner, then his friend’s parents were going to pick him up for a sleepover. He’s made himself Macoroni and Cheese a bunch of times, I didn’t worry at all. He called while I was in the movie, so I text him to let him know I was in the movie and I’d call him after. Well, instead of him sending me a “checking in” text….. he sent me a text saying he forgot about the mac and cheese on the stove and went to his sleepover. A hour or so later he remembered and FREAKED OUT! His friend’s sister drove him home to help take care of the problem. The smoke alarms were going off, and I can imagine utter chaos. Parker was very, very upset. He and his friend and his friend’s sister cleaned up best they could (luckily the neighbors didn’t hear the alarms!). I text Parker back that it was okay, and to enjoy his sleepover. Throughout the movie I was a little stressed, but thought it was a little bit comical. I came home from dinner and a movie and walked into a house that smelled like burnt noodles! He did a pretty good job cleaning up, but the pan is toast (literally). Parker is still pretty upset about the incident. He feels SO bad and offered to buy a new pan out of his allowance. He is such a great kid, I couldn’t even be mad. I think his guilt was consequence enough!
Well, I’ve finished another semester of graduate school. I am DONE with “book work” and for the next 8 months I will intern. In December I will receive my Master’s Degree in mental health counseling. I CAN’T WAIT! I’m busy, and tired, and stressed… but it will all be worth it in December!
A lady I work with is going to be moving soon, and offered us her cat. She is declawed and fixed and everything. Parker has wanted his “own” cat forever. We’ve tried to have kittens, but they are always too destructive. Because this cat is a little older, we hope it works out. She is super shy, and has mostly hidden under Parker’s bed. She hasn’t eaten, so I put the food under his bed, and she did munch a little. Princess wants to play with her, but she doesn’t quite understand it. Princess snuck under the bed and stole some food. The cat (Calli) hissed at Princess and Princess just looked at her like, “What, me?? What did I do?” Princess is used to my mom’s cats, who play with her no problem… so she is a little confused. But we are happy to have another member in our family.
Parker is doing FABULOUS in school. He ended 2nd tri with ALL A’s and B’s. This trimester he is enjoying PE and math (shocker!) He is going to California for spring break, and can’t wait!
I can’t wait for WARM WEATHER!!!!! I’m SO sick of snow!
I don’t have any pictures for this post…. but, I will next time!
